HUNT BALL:
Well what a fantastic night was had at THE BANWEN MINERS ANNUAL HUNT BALL. We started the evening on a high as Wales had just won the Triple Crown, beating England at Twickenham!

After a very nice dinner, served superbly and professionally by the staff of the Aberavon Beach Hotel everyone danced the night away to live music and disco way into the small hours. We took some time to present Awards to Stefan Jordan and Nia Godsmark for their talents of falling off so spectacularly and consistantly throughout the season, and also to wish Cerys Jones a belated Happy 21st Birthday.

The ball finished with a spectacular demonstration of blowing the hunting horn by our huntsman Peter Astle, this was followed by some really good attempts from a few of our weary dancers. Some of our serious drinkers then moved on to their very own "after party" that went on till five thirty am...... Well done you lot!

More importantly, during the evening we managed to raise some well received funds for the hunt and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those supporters who kindly donated raffle prizes and lots for our auction. Also a very big thank you to the generosity of those who successfully bid for, and won, lots in the auction; Mr Rhodri Hopkins (Crynant Plant) and Mr Lee David (Howie Commercial Vehicles) for sponsoring races at our forthcoming Point to Point Race Day, Ms Erika Sloots who won the famous Booze Hamper and Mr Simon Rees who won the Framed Hunting Photography.
The high point of the evening was definately the Big Cash Draw. This year saw an act of extreme generosity when the winner, Mr Glenn Nott, kindly donated his win of over £200.00 straight back to the Banwen Miners Hunt!!! Well done Glenn.

Once again, on behalf of the Joint Masters i would like to thank everyone for making the Hunt Ball a great success this year and for proving that support for our hunt is stronger now than ever.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Joint Masters and the Committee would like to thank the farmers and landowners of our hunt country whose land we cross. We would also like to thank the various Commoners, The National Trust and The Forestry Commission for their continued support.
Thank You.

The 2012-2013 Season will be the 50th Anniversary of the Banwen Miners, please watch out for all the special events we have planned for next season.

Hunt followers are reminded that they are crossing land by kind permission of farmers and landowners given to the Masters. It must never be construed as a public bridleway or footpath outside Hunt days.

Thank You.

Further to the above statement, we have been made aware that registration numbers of any vehicle seen on the common will be reported to South Wales Police.

The Banwen Miners Hunt is approaching its 50th year, and whilst traditional foxhunting is an illegal activity, we will continue to hunt within the law until the "Hunting Act" is repealed. Although we will not be hunting foxes in the traditional manner, we still intend to provide a fox control service to our landowners and farmers, as well we will continue to provide a fallen stock service which we will endeavour to provide as ecconomically as possible. We would urge all farmers to join the National Fallen Stock scheme as this scheme is currently heavily subsidised by the Government.

These are very difficult times for the Banwen Miners Hunt as we are a small hunt with limited resources. Throughout the years we have had tremendous support from all of our subscribers, supporters, landowners and farmers. Please continue to support us. We must not let this Government suceed in the distruction of yet another pillar of the rural economy and the countryside way of life.
